Threat to local schools from proposal for Free School
There are warnings that if proposals for a Free School in Stroud go ahead, it will take pupils from a number of schools across the district. Because money follows the pupils, and because so many school already have a lot of surplus spaces, if the Free School takes pupils from those small schools the end result could be that the schools are no longer financially viable.
Stroud Labour Party is the only political party campaigning to save our local schools from closure. They are urging people to write to the Secretary of State for Education asking him not to allow the proposal for a Free School to go ahead.
