A lamentable decision

The decision by Stroud District Council Planning Executive Sub Committee to give consent to a motorway service area at Brookthorpe dredges the bottom of the barrel in terms of its competence and ethical standards – quite simply there is no need for an MSA at this point on the M5 and yet again the Tories on Stroud District Council have at best bottled it when it comes to protecting the countryside.  As has been widely reported the only reason they have give permission is that it lies on the edge of Gloucester where traditionally they dump what is not acceptable elsewhere.  Working with the communities affected I know how much they will be alienated by this as with other earlier bazaar decisions.

Quite simply if you live in the Hardwicke, Brookthorpe, Haresfield and Harescombe area the Tories are not just bad for your health but bad for the environment.  We must act now to save the environment by removing the Tories from these areas.

There is already an off-road facility at Junction 12 and this could have been enhanced if there was the will to do it and to cap it all they still intend to build the incinerator there.
