INTERNATIONAL WORKERS DAY RALLY AND MARCH 29 APRIL 2023
The annual march and rally met at Wallbridge Stroud. A gorgeous sunny day. With the Stroud Red Band leading the way.
Main speaker Karen Linforth of USDAW the retail workers union said” Workers Memorial Day is a key event throughout the world to remember those that have lost their lives during their daily work and roles. 1 in 3 retail workers experience verbal abuse, threats, and physical violence every minute of every day. This is not acceptable and has, tragically resulted in the worst-case scenario of life changing incidents for our members.”
Karen was supported by Andy Woolley from the newly formed Stroud Trades Council, Elisabeth Stanley of Stroud District WASPI (Women Against State Pension Injustice) attended an event in Stroud to mark International Workers’ Memorial Day and carried their banner in the march around Stroud. Lastly by Simon Opher the Stroud Labour Parliamentary candidate, who emphasised the importance of protecting people in the workplace.
