Nera CORNELL

“I grew up in Cam and would love the opportunity to represent and serve our community. I attended Cam Hopton Primary and Rednock School, as well as being involved with St George’s Church choir and 1st Cam Scouts. I am studying Zoology at university.”

“As your District Councillor, I would ensure that I can actively listen to residents so I can represent the wonderful diversity of our community. I am particularly passionate about environmental issues, welfare, and inclusivity, and mental health.”

“My interest in the environment includes the interaction between people and nature. This is so vital for education, people’s welfare, and ensuring that the council centers on green issues.”

“While at Rednock School, I benefited from the relationship between the Pulse and May Lane Surgery through the Healthy Lifestyles program. I want to aid the council to support these community-led initiatives that really help to care for people.”

“I have a passion to continue as an individual making positive changes in the lives of Cam East and more generally, the Stroud district. I have spent most of my adult life working with children / young people in residential care and am currently an Ofsted registered manager for a children’s home in the Swindon area. This work has been my lifelong labour of love.”

“I am a father to two grown-up children whom I am immensely proud of and are central to my world. I enjoy many things in life: walking, cycling, football for my sins. I am a Newcastle United supporter, I read a lot and am an allotment holder.”

Natalie BENNETT

I grew up in Cam and lived in the Cam and Dursley area for most of my life, until moving to Nailsworth four years ago.

“I currently work for a charity that helps young people, the long term unemployed, and others to make progress in learning and work. I also have 12 years of experience working within the Special Educational Needs and Disability Service for two Local Authorities.”

“This has given me a deep insight into the devastating impact that the Conservative Government’s funding cuts have had on the lives of some of the most vulnerable children, young people, and families in society and has been a driving force behind my decision to get involved in local politics.”

“I am a Town Councillor for Nailsworth Town and I’ve also put myself forward as a candidate to represent Nailsworth and Horsley Ward in the district council elections and Cam Valley Division in the county council elections.”

“Local Government is incredibly important and with the likelihood of even more funding pressures, our communities need dedicated councillors who will speak up for them.  If elected my priority will be to work alongside our residents to campaign on the issues that matter the most to them and deliver positive change.”
