Ela has lived in Painswick for twenty-two years and although her work takes her to London, her community has always been central to her life.
Ela has served as Parish Councillor and School Governor and worked on various groups -always striving to create an inclusive, kinder, connected community.
Her background is NHS through and through, and for the last 12 years she has been working in mental health. This pandemic has shown us all just how important this is, with the sadness of loneliness and isolation, the stigma surrounding mental ill-health.
“I want our community to be a place where everyone can be at their best. I believe a Labour-led council will continue to fulfil this vision”.
“I moved to the beautiful Stroud Valleys almost 14 years ago – having grown-up in the South East and lived most of my early adult life in the North. I feel blessed to have made my home here.”
Helen works as a psychotherapist, supporting children and young people. Before Covid, she was working in schools alongside parents, teachers, and social workers, as well as independently. “So I have insight into the challenges faced by many self-employed people during the pandemic, as well as the challenges that our young people are struggling with.”
“I’m a keen cyclist, have been actively involved in local cycling clubs, Stroud Active Travel, and during 2020 I’ve been on the team behind the Stroud Spindarellas – supporting local women through cycling and friendship.”
I’m now keen to draw on my experience for the good of the local community and feel honoured to have been selected as a Labour candidate in the 2021 elections.
