I was born, raised, and schooled in Nailsworth. I am married with 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren. I worked in the family butchery business for over 25 years, and have also worked with young people full-time and part-time for over 50 years. I am currently a Town, District, and County Councillor, and have also served as Mayor of Nailsworth.
The reason I became a councillor was that I feel passionate about the area and its residents and I am committed to working for my community to achieve the best possible outcomes.
I grew up in Cam and lived in the Cam and Dursley area for most of my life, until moving to Nailsworth four years ago.
I currently work for a charity that helps young people, the long term unemployed and others to make progress in learning and work. I also have 12 years of experience working within the Special Educational Needs and Disability Service for two Local Authorities.
This has given me a deep insight into the devastating impact that the Conservative Government’s funding cuts have had on the lives of some of the most vulnerable children, young people and families in society, and has been a driving force behind my decision to get involved in local politics.
I am a Town Councillor for Nailsworth Town and I’ve also put myself forward as a candidate to represent Nailsworth and Horsley Ward in the district council elections and Cam Valley Division in the county council elections. Local Government is incredibly important and with the likelihood of even more funding pressures, our communities need dedicated councillors who will speak up for them.
If elected my priority will be to work alongside our residents to campaign on the issues that matter the most to them and deliver positive change.
Steve (described above) is also the current serving County Councillor for Nailsworth and is standing to continue as the County Councillor in May 2021
